Equipped for the Call
“The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:24
When God calls you to something, He never leaves you to figure it out on your own. He does not hand you an assignment and then step back to see if you can handle it by your own strength. If He calls you to it, He will equip you for it. That’s a promise we can hold on to, even when the journey feels overwhelming.
Equipping does not always happen instantly. Often, it is a process that unfolds as you walk in obedience. Moses did not feel ready to lead Israel out of Egypt, but God reminded him, “I will be with you.” David did not become a giant-slayer overnight. It was years of tending sheep in the fields that built his courage and skill. The disciples were ordinary fishermen, tax collectors, and laborers, but time spent walking with Jesus transformed them into world-changers.
Being equipped by God does not mean the path will be easy. In fact, it may lead you through seasons that stretch you, challenge you, and require more faith than you thought you had. You may face criticism, spiritual attacks, or moments when you question if you heard God right. You will make mistakes along the way, but even your mistakes can become part of your preparation. God is able to use your failures to teach you humility, deepen your dependence on Him, and sharpen your character for the work ahead.
We often think God equips us before the journey starts, but more often, He equips us in motion. Just like the manna in the wilderness came daily, God provides what you need as you take each step of obedience. If you wait until you feel perfectly prepared, you may never move at all. The preparation you are looking for is often found in the doing.
So take the step. Say yes to what He has placed in front of you, even if you don’t have all the answers yet. Trust that the God who called you already knows the challenges you will face, and He has already arranged the strength, wisdom, and resources you will need to fulfill your calling.
The One who calls you is faithful. He will equip you. And He will finish what He started in you.

Amen. I know this to be true. I have experienced and currently experiencing this firsthand. I trust God and looking forward to what He has for me. It hasn’t been easy and I am joyful in the process. I know that what He has for me is good!
God I thank you for this message of confirmation!!! I have never seen God work in this way before in my life, until now. Last year God called me to open an Assisted Living Home and in my human-"ness", I said to God if this is Your will, please place the people, tools and resources around me to do it and He did just that. It was not easy, from the warfare in my mind, to illness, and plain old fear..He carried me and because he knows me...He knew along the way I would need BIG BOLD GOD MOMENTS because I would miss the subtle things. Like sending a "Task Rabbit" named Elijah to put the furniture together and then offer to pray for the home before he left. Mind you, I had never met this person before he entered the home to complete the task. There were so many other moments but that one stands out. I can on and on, but will end with this....Pastor Coates, this message came out 9/29 and the State of Maryland issued my programs licensed on the same day! When I received the license in my human- "ness" I felt more nervous than excited.....but reading this message has given me a calming confirmation! Thank you Pastor Coates for your obedience. Have a blessed day! Blessings over Glory B Assisted Living Senior Care in Clinton, MD! We are open and ready to serve!
