Start Walking
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” – Exodus 14:14
If you are waiting for every obstacle to disappear before you start walking in your calling, you will be waiting for the rest of your life.
The truth is, there will always be something in the way. There will always be unanswered questions, resistance from others, and moments where you feel underqualified. We tell ourselves, “I’ll start when I have more money. I’ll move forward when the timing is better. I’ll step out when I’m more confident.” But those “when” statements are really just excuses in disguise. If you’re looking for a perfectly clear road before you take a step, you’ll never move at all.
When God called Moses to lead Israel out of Egypt, the Red Sea was still in front of them. When David ran toward Goliath, the giant was still standing. When Peter stepped out of the boat, the waves were still high. None of them waited for the obstacles to vanish before they obeyed. They moved forward while the obstacle was still there — trusting that God would handle what they could not.
Sometimes God parts the sea before you step, but more often, He parts it while you walk. The fear and uncertainty you feel are not signs to stop, but invitations to trust Him. He has a track record of clearing paths for His people, but He often does it in response to faith in action, not hesitation in fear.
What if you stopped waiting for the conditions to be perfect and simply obeyed? What if you trusted that if God called you to it, He’s already accounted for every obstacle in the way?
Start walking. Move forward in obedience even if the path is unclear. The same God who called you is the same God who will make a way. And when you look back, you’ll see that the obstacle you feared most was nothing more than the backdrop for God to show His power.
