Influence for Impact
"Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves." – Philippians 2:3
Influence and resources are gifts from God. Whether it is money, a platform, a skill set, or a position of authority, these things are entrusted to you for a purpose. The problem is that in today’s culture, most people treat influence as a spotlight to shine on themselves. Social media feeds are often filled with humblebrags, self-promotion, and personal agendas. But God’s design for influence is not self-exaltation. It is service.
Jesus had all the influence in the world. Crowds followed Him. Leaders feared Him. Heaven’s armies were at His command. And yet, He used His position to wash feet, feed the hungry, heal the sick, and ultimately lay down His life for others. He showed us that real greatness is not in how many people serve you, but in how many you serve.
When you see your influence and resources as tools for God’s Kingdom, it changes how you use them. You stop asking, “How can this make me look better?” and start asking, “How can this help someone else?” It becomes less about building your own brand and more about building people up.
The truth is, everything you have can be a blessing in someone else’s life. Your words can lift someone’s spirit. Your connections can open a door for someone who feels stuck. Your generosity can meet a need that someone has been praying about. God does not give you influence so you can flex. He gives it so you can impact lives in ways that point people back to Him.
One day, you and I will stand before God and give an account of what we did with what He gave us. May we be found faithful, having used every ounce of our influence and every resource in our hands not for our glory, but for His.
