When God Seems Silent
“Commit your way to the Lord, trust in him, and he will act.” - Psalm 37:5
The book of Esther is unusual. It is the only book in the Bible where God’s name is never mentioned, yet His fingerprints are all over the story. And maybe that is exactly why it hits home. Because let’s be honest, there are seasons in your life when God feels quiet. He is not splitting the sky, lighting bushes on fire, or parting the sea. He is just...silent.
But silence does not mean absence. Esther found herself caught in a moment she did not create, facing a decision she did not ask for. Her people were in danger, and she had the power to do something about it. But she also had every reason to play it safe. Life in the palace was good. No one even knew she was Jewish. She could have stayed quiet, and no one would have blamed her.
Except Mordecai. He reminded her that she was where she was for a reason. And instead of rushing to act, Esther paused. She stepped back from her comfort and turned to God, even when He seemed hidden.
That is a word for you today. When you are facing something bigger than you, do not forget where your help comes from. When the pressure is on, and God seems quiet, go back to Him anyway.
Remember, you do not stand alone. Esther called on her people to join her in prayer and fasting. She stayed connected to her community. Sometimes the strength you need to step up and do what is right comes from the prayers of the people around you. So do not isolate yourself when the battle gets real.
God may not always show up the way you want. But He is always working. And when you stand up in faith, He often moves in power. Esther walked into the king’s court not knowing how it would turn out. But she chose obedience over safety.
What about you? When life calls you into something uncomfortable, will you turn to God and trust Him? Even when He seems quiet? You do not need all the answers to say yes. You just need faith that He is with you, even in the silence.
