Speaking For The Voiceless
"Speak out for those who cannot speak, for the rights of all the destitute. Speak out, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy." - Proverbs 31:8–9
Wisdom compels us to use our voices and influence to advocate for those who lack the power to speak for themselves. This biblical mandate challenges us to move beyond personal comfort and safety to actively work for justice and equity in our communities and society.
Advocacy takes many forms, from writing letters to elected officials about policies affecting the poor to volunteering with organizations that serve marginalized populations. It might involve speaking up when we witness discrimination or using our professional skills to serve those who cannot afford them.
Wise advocacy recognizes the difference between charity and justice. While charitable acts address immediate symptoms of problems, advocacy works to change the systems that create those problems in the first place.
