The Feast Of Justice
"On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine, the best of meats and the finest of wines." - Isaiah 25:6
Isaiah envisions God's ultimate future as a great feast where everyone has access to abundance. This vision challenges economic systems that create artificial scarcity while concentrating wealth among the few. God's kingdom is characterized by abundance for all, not luxury for some and poverty for others.
This feast is not just spiritual but includes the "best of meats and the finest of wines," suggesting that God's justice encompasses material wellbeing. When we work for economic policies that ensure everyone has access to quality healthcare, education, and housing, we're preparing for this feast.
The feast is "for all peoples," reminding us that God's justice transcends national, racial, and economic boundaries. Our advocacy should reflect this universal scope, supporting policies that benefit everyone rather than just those who are already privileged.
As we work for justice today, we anticipate and participate in God's ultimate feast of abundance for all.
Prayer:
God of the feast, help me work for economic systems that reflect Your vision of abundance for all people. Amen.
