Going Without Knowing
Sometimes God calls us to embark upon new ventures without having a clear sense of what we will encounter, without knowing exactly how long it will take, or without knowing what we’ll have to go through along the way. Even still, we must step out on faith and do what it is that we sense God is leading us to do even when we are uncertain of what to expect and unclear what the outcome is going to be. That was Abram’s plight in our text when he received God’s call to go into a land of purpose and promised ordained by God. The Lord directs him to leave his country and to travel to a land of fulfillment that the Lord would show him. God says if he does that, He would bless him, make his name great, and that all of the families of the earth would be blessed because of Abram. There’s only one problem. God doesn’t give Abram the complete picture of what to expect along the way. He doesn’t tell him how long this trip is going to take, what direction in which he is to travel or what necessities he is to take. The Lord just tells Abram to go. And in full obedience, Abram went. If we want to display this same kind of faithful obedience in our own walk with the Lord, here are four things we need to do.
