Say It Loud: I'm Black And I'm Proud

May 25, 2025    Dr. Delman Coates

In Genesis 1, we are told that God made man in His image. That means who we are and what we are begins with God. It doesn’t begin with textbooks, school curriculums, census reports, or history books. It doesn’t begin with a society that either seeks to ignore us or define us. It begins with the God who made us. That means we don’t have to allow society to tell us who we are. We don’t need America to validate us. And we don’t need our oppressors to affirm us. We’ve already been stamped by the Creator. That means we can say it loud, “I’m Black and I’m Proud,” not because it’s politically correct or culturally relevant, but because it is theologically accurate.
