Don't Worry About A Thing
Across this nation, worry and anxiety are beginning to set in and take root in the hearts and minds of the American people. Anxiety has moved from the margins of our private thoughts to the center of our public life. Americans of all backgrounds live under a constant, crushing weight of worry about the economy, worry about health, worry about democracy, and worry about what the future holds.
However, this week's passage reminds us that this is not the first time God’s people have lived under anxiety. It is not the first time humanity has faced chaos, corruption, and abuse of power. Daniel 5 teaches us who God is and how God works when it comes to rulers, kings, presidents, and politicians. It shows us that when power is abused, God is still sovereign, and God’s people do not have to worry.
